Milroy’s of Soho was founded in 1964 by brothers John and Wallace Milroy. Milroy’s of Soho started life as a wine merchant, trading large volumes of wine to private customers and restaurants alike. It was the Milroys who were responsible for introducing single malt whisky to London and making it accessible.
Over the course of the next couple of decades, John and Wallace acted as ambassadors for single malt whisky, sometimes driving to Scotland to source whiskies direct from distilleries to offer to their customers in London. In the process they established Milroy’s of Soho as the place to go for whisky, whether it be a gift for a loved one, a rare collectible or bottling a cask.
Today, Lee Tomlinson and team maintain the tradition set by the brothers Milroy, indulging the passions of whisky enthusiasts the world over. To join the mailing list for exclusive offers, upcoming events and news on all the latest whisky and spirits releases, please visit our website and sign up.
While Scotch whisky is our stock in trade, we also stock a wide range of world whiskies from Japanese single malt to Bourbon, plus a large selection of other spirits including but not limited to: gin, vodka, rum, brandy and tequila.
Once a cellar bar, the Milroy’s of Soho tasting cellar is home to some wonderful events, including bespoke whisky tastings and masterclasses, throughout the year.
Manager – Lee Tomlinson
Lee started at Milroy’s during Christmas 2010 having worked in the Jeroboams wine shops previously, prior to that he dabbled with Architecture as you do. As well as specialising in selling limited edition whiskies to collectors and enthusiastic drinkers alike, Lee is also responsible for purchasing all of the whisky we have adorning our shelves. Lee collects rare Japanese whisky and is the go-to guy to chat to about all things Karuizawa.
Assistant Manager – Angus Martin
Angus has previously worked for Boisdale of Belgravia as a whisky and cigar sommelier and at Master of Malt as a content editor. Angus handles all our web traffic and social media related stuff. Angus likes to talk about alcohol a lot, and can be found tutoring most of our tasting events.
Sales Assistant – Raphael Sheridan
After university and editing his student newspaper Raph wrote for the Cask Tales whisky blog and was quickly snapped up by Milroy’s to chat to people on the shop floor. Controversially Raph prefers top Bourbons to Scotch (don’t tell Lee this). Either way he’s the chap to go to for a great recommendation!
Sales Assistant – James Russell
James joined Milroy’s part-time whilst still at university, with a remarkable knowledge for his tender years, James has become a firm fixture in the shop. James is currently responsible for organising all our whisky tasting events. James makes a mean whiskey sour, he’ll make you one if you ask nicely.
